I consider myself a scary movie expert so when I saw the previews for “See No Evil” I was really excited to have a brand new one to go check out. I was ready to be scared! So the movie starts out with a gruesome scene where two cops report to an area where they hear someone screaming. They enter and find a helpless woman in a house and try to help her. Just as they try to help, the man who is responsible for this attacks them with an axe and kills one cop while wounding the other. The one only got away because he shot this man in the head and thought he killed him. Then the story moves on to the cop that lived many years later when he is a prison guard for young adults in prison. Then these delinquents in prison are being bused to an abandoned hotel to do some work. If they do the work then they get some time cut off of their sentences in prison. They arrive to a hotel that had been almost completely ruined by a fire a long time ago. There’s woman there waiting for them when they arrive and she specifically tells them their duties are to clean and stay off of the top floors. Of course, as the movie progresses the characters all split up and go to the top levels of the hotel! Slowly they begin running into really weird things and begin disappearing one by one. Eventually some of the chaperones see one of them being attacked and knows that there’s something going on. So the chaperone that is a cop guarding these inmates goes to investigate and finds someone who he thought he killed years ago! Throughout this whole time the film goes back to flashbacks of the killers’ childhood trying to lead up to why he is doing this. The killer is obsessed with crosses or anything affiliated with religion too (thanks to his mother) which makes the story even more interesting. As always, the bad guy loses and only a few live to tell the tale. I was personally very disappointed with the movie. I love horror movies and this one was a big let down. There was some bad acting going on and “Kane” from WWE could have done a little better at being intimidating! (WWE was a co-producer of the movie) Over all the movie did make you jump but it won’t make you be afraid to be alone at night.
