Casanova

I recently went to the movie theatre not

knowing what I wanted to see and my date

and I weren’t really agreeing. We decided

we would show up at the theatre and go

to the movie that started the soonest,

and it happened to be the movie

‘Casanova’. My date bought the tickets,

some popcorn, and beverages, and

we sat down in the theatre to wait for

the show to start.

Going into the movie, I was expecting my date to be bored and for me to be annoyed by his obvious display of male behavior…having no romantic feelings whatsoever. However, I was about to be pleasantly surprised! Both by the movie and my date!

In the movie, set in Venice, a scholarly young woman, Francesca Bruni (Sienna Miller) is secretly writing novels under the name of a man. Meanwhile, Casanova (Heath Ledger) has been womanizing as usual and getting into trouble. Officials from Rome are pushing Venice to clean up its population and Casanova, with his reputation, is forced to marry or be banished. The film follows him through his quest to find a wife and true love, as it turns out, finds him.

He meets Francesca and is smitten by her, but she is promised to another man - a rich man - in order to provide her mother and brother with the luxurious lifestyle they are used to. Through disguises, lies, and crazy schemes Casanova tries to win the love of Francesca, and prove that she can love him, instead of despise his persona as she did before they met.

Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. It had action, suspense, humor, good acting, romance and a crazy plot twist that made it quite interesting for how long it was. I would recommend this movie for almost everyone! My date also enjoyed the movie and said that it had a substantial amount of action and humor in it to keep the guys entertained! 4.5 out of 5 stars!
