20 Questions
W/ Brittani Senser

MNFinest: What would you consider your first big break?
Brittani: I would have to say my big break was Making the Band. It has opened so many doors for me.

MNFinest: That’s great. What, if anything, did you take from your experience on Making the Band?
Brittani: To stay on the grind. If you don’t work hard and stay on top of your game there’s always someone trying to take your place. Talent is a dime a dozen, it’s the hard workers who succeed.

MNFinest: Very true. So did you get along with Diddy?
Brittani: I only met him once and it was during elimination. He was friendly, but I never       got to sit down and have a conversation with him.

MNFinest: In regards to Danity Kane’s recent “break up”, do you think he made a mistake not keeping you in the group?
Brittani: No, I was not made to be in that group.

MNFinest: Fair enough. Are you nervous to release an album considering the stigma that being on reality show can sometimes bring?
Brittani: No, I am very happy with the whole way the Making the Band situation ended up.

MNFinest: How is it different for you being a solo artist as apposed to being in a group?
Brittani: Ha ha, that if you fail, you have no one to blame it on but yourself… Ha ha, I’m just kidding.

MNFinest: Hey, there’s always the publicist and the manager.  What artist/s if any would you compare your sound to?
Brittani: Hmmm… that’s a good question… No one really!!!

MNFinest: Are you worried about being compared to the obvious other Brit S., who also has a song called “Piece of Me”?
Brittani: Absolutely, I wasn’t too keen on the idea of the song at first! But it’s a totally different song. If you haven’t heard it yet, listen to it.

MNFinest: Would you say that you sound like Britney Spears?
Brittani: No! Like I said before, we’re totally different.

MNFinest: Who are your musical influences?
Brittani: Hmm…everyone really. I really love old Motown. I am from Minneapolis, and we have a lot of fierce musicians and singers. I am definitely influenced by the local scene. My favorite singer of all time though is Stokely Williams from Mint Condition.

MNFinest: Did you enjoy working with Bobby Valentino on “Piece of Me”, and is there anything going on that we should know about?
Brittani: Absolutely, It’s a great song!!

MNFinest: What was it like working with David Banner?
Brittani: He’s cool. He added a whole new dimension to that song.

MNFinest: Who wrote the songs on your album?
Brittani: The whole album was written by me, Jacob my producer and Kiana Harris. A lot of the songs were a collaborative effort.

MNFinest: Do you have a favorite?
Brittani: Hmmm I would have to say “Rock Steady”.

MNFinest: Great song! Are they about personal experiences you’ve had or are they more dramatized?
Brittani: Most of them are from personal experiences, others are made up! A lot of them are taken from situations that certain friends have had.

MNFinest: What’s your creative process like?
Brittani: It depends, I personally like to take the song, live it and breathe it. Then bring my ideas to the table with the writing team and work it out from there. Other times I just write in a journal or whatever and turn them into a song.

MNFinest: Are “Still in Love”, “After Love”, etc. of the emotional songs about the same person?
Brittani: No

MNFinest: Ok, I had to ask. What part of releasing this album are you most excited about?
Brittani: Touring and all the adventures that come from promoting an album

MNFinest: Will you be touring soon?
Brittani: I hope to

MNFinest: Who would you like to collaborate/tour with in the future?
Brittani:  Anyone really, I love music and musicians. I would really love to work with Imogene heap. I think she’s a genius.

MNFinest: Indeed. Well, thanks for your time Brittani. We wish you the best of luck.
Brittani: Thank you, I appreciate it.

MNFinest: Be sure to check out Brittani’s new album, After Love, set to be released in May.
